SFD (Level 2) Report - Bhojpur Municipality Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) (2024)
Bhojpur Municipality is situated in Bhojpur District of Koshi Province in the eastern region of Nepal. It is divided into 12 wards and covers an area of 159.52 km2. It was established on May 16, 2014 and was reformed on 2016. It is formed by merging 8 Village Development Committees (VDCs) namely Gupteshwar, Siddheshwar, Bokhim, Helauchha, Bhaisipankha, Amtek, Taksar and Bhojpur. It lies at 28°53ʹ to 27°46ʹ N latitude and 86°53ʹ to 87°17ʹ E longitude and at the altitude approximately 1,550 metres above sea level (masl) (Bhojpur Municipality, 2024).
A population of 26,007 is residing on 6,744 households in the municipality (National Statistics Office, 2023). The annual population growth rate of the municipality is -0.44%. This shows that the municipality has increasing out migration.
The SFD graphic shows that excreta generated from 81% of the population are safely managed while 19% of the population are unsafely managed. Only 1% of FS generated in the municipality was treated from biogas digester at household while safely managed FS generated from 80% of population is temporary as the FS has not been emptied. With the current practice of faecal sludge management (FSM), the proportion of safely managed FS will soon become unsafely managed once the containments start filling up.
