Shibchar Municipality is a Municipality in the Shibchar Sub-District (Upazila), which is situated in Madaripur District under Dhaka division. The geographical coordinates of Shibchar are 23°21'N and 90°10' E. The borders of Shibchar Upazila are the Padma River, the Upazilas of
Lohajang and Sadarpur in the north, the Upazilas of Rajoir and Madaripur Sadar in the south, the Upazila of Zanjira in the east, and the Upazila of Bhanga in the west.
According to the population census in 2011 by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the population of Shibchar Municipality was 24,151. The urban population growth in Shibchar is 2.02% per year. Considering 10% floating population, such as farmers and traders coming to the city every day, the present (2023) population is estimated to be around 33,776.
The outcome of the SFD graphic shows that only twenty five percent (25%) of the excreta flow is classified as safely managed, and the remaining seventy five percent (75%) is classified as unsafely managed.
