SuSanA is now five years old and still going strong!

The Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) celebrates this week its 5th anniversary since its formation at the kick-off meeting in Eschborn, Germany on 29 January 2007. Looking back we can all be proud of what we have achieved together. Therefore the SuSanA secretariat wants to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their cooperation, dedication, support and interest to work as a network on a common vision of sustainable sanitation.

New issue of SSP journal: Ten years EcoSan Club

Cover - Issue 10The EcoSan Club Austria was founded on 20.02.2002 and is therefore celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2012. Issue 10 of Sustainable Sanitation Practice (SSP) is therefore devoted to „10 Years EcoSan Club“.

The issue comprises 3 articles which:
1. tell the story behind EcoSan Club,
2. revisit implementation projects that EcoSan Club has been carried out during the last decade, and
3. summarize awareness raising activities of EcoSan Club.
 
Open funding: European Commission calls for sanitation and hygiene proposals

EuropeAid is calling for proposals to be funded under its Promotion of the Millennium Development goals: Sanitation in poor peri-urban and urban areas in ACP countries programme. Proposals are welcome until 31 January 2012. The areas covered include Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Geographical Zone. The EuropeAid project budget is Euro 14,000,000.

Call for solutions for water and sanitation in slums
04.01.2012

Projection network and its partners wish to bring forward the topic of slums within the 6th World Water Forum. With the project "From planet of slum to plant of solutions" a sample of informal settlements will be recreated on 300 m2 exhibition space where existing and currently researched field solutions for water and sanitation issues in slums shall be displayed. Deadline for proposals for contributions to this projects is 15 January 2012.

Entries for the WASH Media Awards accepted until April 1st 2012

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) welcome entries for the fourth edition of the WASH Media Awards. This competition is open to journalists who publish or broadcast original investigative stories and reports on water supply, sanitation or hygiene (WASH) related issues and their impact on individual and country development.
