SFD (Lite) Report - Nagarkanda Municipality CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE (2025)
Nagarkanda Municipality is a municipality in the Nagarkanda Upazila, which is situated in Faridpur District under Dhaka Division. The geographical coordinates of Nagarkanda are 23° 24' N and 89° 53' E . Nagarkanda Upazila is bordered on the north by the Upazilas of Faridpur Sadar and Char Bhadrasan, on the south by the Upazila of Muksudpur, on the east by the Upazilas of Bhanga and Sadarpur, and on the west by the Upazila of Saltha. Bhubaneshwar and Shitalakshya are well-known rivers in the study area.
According to the population census in 2011 by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the population of Nagarkanda Municipality was 11,872. The urban population growth in Nagarkanda is 2.35% per year. Considering 10% floating population, such as farmers and traders coming to the city every day, the present (2023) population is estimated to be around 17,257.
The outcome of the SFD graphic shows that only twenty three percent (23%) of the excreta flow is classified as safely managed, and the remaining seventy seven percent (77%) is classified as unsafely managed.
