Content - Summary

Este estudo de caso é o sistema de reuso de esgoto e cinza Chorrillos, Lima, Peru. O sistema atende 53 pessoas, 35 alunos com necessidades especiais mais o quadro de pessoal. Começada por pais e empregados do centro educativo, a esquematização do projeto de tratamento de águas residuais com foco especial no reúso iniciou-se em 2006.
A ideia original era aprimorar a área ao ar livre através da instalação de um sistema de irrigação e da construção de uma nova área de recreação.

Com fins de tratamento e irrigação, dois sistemas de tratamento independentes foram construídos: wetland para tratamento de águas cinzas e filtro orgânico para tratamento de águas negras. Por dia letivo, 2 m3 de águas cinzas tratadas são reutilizados na irrigação do jardim e entre 4 e 5 m3 de águas negras tratadas por dia de escola são reutilizados para a irrigação de gramados, árvores frutíferas e flores. Hoje a escola dobrou as áreas verdes irrigadas, mas reduziu pela metade o consumo de água comparado a 2007. Banheiros para separação de urina e desidratação de fezes (banheiros secos) também foram construídos.

A implementação de componentes do saneamento ecológico sempre precisou de uma equipe de engenheiros qualificada, com suficiente experiência, especialmente em países onde a tecnologia - no caso, wetlands - é ainda pouco difundida. O sistema é relativamente complexo, com muitos subcomponentes, ao passo que somente uma população de 53 pessoas é atendida.

O projeto foi planejado e concebido pela Rotária del Perú, executatdo pelo Centro Educativo Básico Especial “San Christoferus”, com o suporte de doadores privados (mais em financiamento), voluntários no trabalho de campo (durante período de construção) e Pro Niño (conselho escolar de San Christoferus).
