Dear SuSanA members, partners and friends,

August is always a very dynamic month for the sector with the leading water conference taking place at the end of the month. Therefore, this newsletter edition will give you an overview of all our upcoming activities happening around the World Water Week 2022 (#WWWeek) in Stockholm, including the 32nd virtual SuSanA Meeting.

The countdown to the 32nd SuSanA meeting has started, it will take place on the 22nd of August. Make sure to save the date and register!

If you are visiting the WWWeek in Stockholm, we would be happy to meet you at the SuSanA exhibition booth or any other planned activities and sessions hosted by SuSanA. We are also very happy to announce that SuSanA is convening multiple sessions covering topics such as Art, Music, Sport, Celebrity for Change in WASH, Sustainable Urban Water Cycle, Resilient Sanitation in Jordan as well as WASH in schools. Don’t miss these opportunities and join us online or on-site.

Informal face-to-face SuSanA meeting
Sunday, 28 August 2022 (SEI Headquarter, Stockholm, Sweden)
After more than two-years of online meetings, it is about time for SuSanA to organize a physical gathering! We warmly invite all SuSanA members present in Stockholm for an informal meeting on Sunday prior to the on-site conference. The idea is to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and reflect on the past, present, and future of SuSanA.

See you at the SEI lounge (Linnégatan 87D, 115 23 Stockholm, Sweden) on Sunday, 28th of August 2022 during 13:00-16:00 CEST.

Any plans for Sunday evening? For those who wish, let’s have drinks and dinner together before the start of the on-site conference! We will start at 18.30. The venue will be confirmed soon, make sure that your contact is in the Stockholm WWWeek attendance list, so we can keep you updated.
Get ready for a Game Night

Let the games begin! SuSanA, Viva Con Agua and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) invite all board game enthusiasts to a Game Night at the SEI Headquarter, right after our face-to-face meeting. We will give you the opportunity to test two innovative board games relevant for our sector, namely the WASH!Game from Viva con Agua and the RECLAIM Game from SLU.

If you have a few hours to spare and are looking for a good time, join us on Sunday, 28th of August 2022 from 16:30-18:30 CEST at the SEI Offices in the SEI Lounge in the Linnégatan 87D, 115 23 Stockholm, Sweden. May the best win, but let’s not forget to have fun!

VI Conferencia Latinoamericana de Saneamiento-LatinoSan 2022
11 – 14 October 2022 (Bolivia)
The Latin American Sanitation Conference (LatinoSan) is an event that takes place every three years, since 2007, with the aim of promoting access to quality and sustainable sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Plurinational State of Bolivia assumed to be the venue for the VI Conference in 2022. The government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, through the Ministry of Environment and Water, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads the organization of the VI Latin American Sanitation Conference – LATINOSAN 2022, to be held on October 11, 12, 13 and 14, at the Regina Convention Hotel in the municipality of Tiquipaya in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Global Steering Committee: Open Call for candidates
Election Autumn 2022
The change process to SuSanA 2.0 is underway! The election for the first Global Steering Committee (GSC) is planned for Autumn 2022.

The GSC is the principal decision-making body during its 3-years term (renewable once) and is responsible for governance and financial oversight, and resource mobilisation of SuSanA. Note that the positions of the GSC are voluntary and unpaid and each GSC member is expected to commit 3 to 4 hours per month.

Please reach out to info@susana.org if you have any suggestions regarding possible candidates. Self-nominations are also encouraged. Note that we are looking for a balanced representation of gender, age, and geographic origin, as well as sectoral diversity.

SuSanA Partners
Is your organisation interested in becoming a SuSanA partner? It’s easy, just follow the application procedure on the SuSanA website, which now include uploading a sanitation project in the database which will appear under the partner profile page.

A new feature for all SuSanA partners: you can now promote your own events via the interactive and very dynamic SuSanA event calendar. Don’t forget to keep the SuSanA Community informed of your webinars, conferences, workshops, etc.

New Multimedia Page
SuSanA Knowledge Hub
We are planning to build a new WASH multimedia page in SuSanA's knowledge hub to upgrade the existing "Audio-visual products" section and to facilitate the knowledge exchange in the WASH sector while make the best use of the era of media. The new multimedia database will tentatively be composed of five types of media products, including pictures (photos, comics, etc.), audios (podcasts, songs, etc.), videos (documentaries, events recordings, cartons, etc.), and be a living database with up-to-date media releases.

As a first step a podcast channel has already been created to collect WASH-related podcast series from SuSanA partners and various external producers. If you have any suggestions or concerns regarding the content, structure, operation and so on, or you want to contribute, please do not hesitate to contact us via email info@susana.org or via our Forum Post.

Launch of Sanitation for Millions Website

We are excited to announce that the global programme Sanitation for Millions launched its programme website. The website is accessible under sanitationformillions.org. In three languages (English, German and Spanish), the website provides an overview on Sanitation for Millions' activities, approaches, achievements, team members, publications, as well as news and events.
Introducing the WASH Systems Academy
The WASH Systems Academy is a collaborative online platform developed to assist WASH sector professionals in applying a WASH systems strengthening approach. Find out what's to come in the WASH Systems Academy in the below animation.
