The 25th SuSanA meeting took place in Brazil on 17th of March 2018 prior to the 8th World Water Forum. It was organized by the SuSanA Secretariat together with AGUATUYA (Bolivia). The meeting had a variety of speakers from the region and beyond and followed-up on ideas to set up a SuSanA Regional Chapter in Latin America.
The next SuSanA meeting will take place prior to the World Water Week in Stockholm on Saturday, 25th August 2018. For our global community to join remotely and participate in the discussions, we will also stream the meeting live.
Emergency Environmental Health Forum & Global WASH Cluster Meeting
Berlin, April 2018
The 8th Emergency Environmental Health Forum (EEHF) with the focus on WASH in emergency and transitional assistance was hosted by the German WASH Network in collaboration SuSanA. Two days earlier, the Global WASH Cluster, a partnership grouping of WASH actors and coordinators in humanitarian response and emergency aid, had also met in Berlin and discussed insights of the overlapping of emergency response and development assistance.
WASH in Schools (WinS) - International Learning Exchange
The Ministry of Education of the Government of Myanmar, with support from UNICEF, GIZ and WaterAid hosted the 6th WinS-ILE 2017 in Nay Pyi Taw and Bagan, Myanmar. Country teams from 11 countries presented their progress updates on WinS. The overall objective of the ILE was to facilitate learning on WinS among countries in Asia and the Pacific, to accelerate progress towards the aim of having improved and sufficient access along with good practices, and sustainability related to WinS in the respective regions.
We are happy to introduce Daniel Ddiba, Co-lead for SuSanA WG5: Productive sanitation and food security. WG5 will be the first WG to create a small team of fellow co-leads, about 5 to 8 people, instead of the usual 2 leads. The goal of a larger team of co-leads is to develop and implement ideas to keep the Group vibrant and active - to the benefit of all the members.
The SuSanA India Chapter is currently discussing the barriers to innovation in WASH. Paramita Dey from the National Institute of Urban Affairs and Vipul Kumar from Ennovent India are kindly facilitating this topic.
The SFD Promotion Initiative gives regular updates on the most recent activities, trainings and news regarding SFDs around the globe in the SuSanA Forum.
The website now includes the Public Toilet Management Process, which consists of 5 steps, each including multiple focal areas and a toolbox which can be downloaded from the SuSanA library. Secondly, the SANIRESCH (SANItaryRecycling ESCHborn) project, which aimed at the treatment and recycling of the urine, brown- and greywater collected at the main building of the headquarters of GIZ GmbH in Eschborn, Germany.

The 30th SuSanA meeting - the first virtual of its kind - took place from August 17th to August 28th 2020. It was organised by the SuSana Secretariat with support and contributions from SuSanA Partners, Members, Working Groups and Regional Chapters.
Our library has more than 3,000 publications, factsheets, presentations, drawings etc. from many different organisations. It continues to grow thanks to the contributions from our partners.
The project database contains nearly 400 sanitation projects of many different organizations dealing with research, implementation, advocacy, capacity development etc. Advanced filtering functions and a global map are also available. Information on how and why this database was created is here.
People working for SuSanA partners can add their own projects through their partner profile page. You might need your SuSanA login upgraded for this purpose. Please contact us if you would like to add a project.

Our 13 working groups cover a variety of different sanitation themes. Click on a working group to the right to find out more about its work or to join it.
When you register as a member you can choose one or several working groups you wish to join. By joining a working group you can work together with other SuSanA members to share experiences and find tomorrow’s solutions. You will also be added to their mailing list.
If you tick two options within one filter parameter, then this is treated as an "or" search, meaning either of them could be true. But if you tick two filters for two different parameters then this is treated as an "and" search, i.e. both parameters must be true to return a result.
