The Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management (SSWM) Toolbox is a very comprehensive collection of tools and approaches to make water management and sanitation more sustainable. The toolbox was compiled by seecon, in cooperation with numerous Susana partners.
Based on the needs of the participants of countless training courses conducted by seecon and its partners, the box is filled with different tools: First, users are guided through an exercise that helps them to identify, understand and prioritise their local problems. After this, users can find numerous software and hardware tools that they need, and those approaches that are essential to plan for and implement those solutions – all topped with further readings, links, a library, glossary and even ready made power points.
Soon, a train-the-trainers section will be added. The toolbox serves thus both as a tool for self-study and as a well-developed and adapted basis for all organisations who conduct their own trainings on water and sanitation in developing countries.
Due to its comprehensiveness – focussing on the human influence on the whole water and nutrient cycle – the toolbox can be used by a variety of target groups from different fields (sanitation, agriculture, water management), who can all target the specific area they want – while keeping the whole picture in mind. The toolbox is aimed at NGOs, development organisations, engineers, community activists, and also schools and universities who wish to use this toolbox for their own purpose.
The toolbox follows the open source concept and is for free.open the toolbox
