Content - Summary

Tarija es un departamento que cuenta con importantes recursos hídricos, tanto superficiales como subterráneos. Sin embargo, el balance hídrico se ve afectado cada vez más debido al cambio de las condiciones climáticas, al uso ineficiente de los recursos hídricos y al crecimiento de las necesidades de agua para los distintos usos. Por otro lado, la falta de saneamiento y tratamiento de aguas servidas y desechos líquidos y sólidos de los centros poblados, la explotación de hidrocarburos y el uso descontrolado de pesticidas en la agricultura, se constituyen en fuentes de contaminación de los cuerpos superficiales de agua, afectando la calidad de los cursos de agua y restringiendo su uso para el consumo humano y el riego.
Los recursos hídricos y su potencial para riego, son fundamentales para el desarrollo sostenible del sector productivo tarijeño, especialmente para la producción de uva, vino y singani.
La cadena de uvas, vinos y singanis es el sector productivo más importante del sur de Bolivia y aglomera a actores de diversos sectores socioeconómicos, entre ellos pequeños, medianos y grandes productores de uva y pequeñas, medianas y grandes bodegas de vino y singani.
En diciembre de 2013, la Asociación Nacional de Industrias Vitivinícolas (ANIV) y el Programa para Servicios Sostenibles de Agua Potable y Saneamiento en Áreas Periurbanas (PERIAGUA) de la Cooperación Técnica Alemana (GIZ) iniciaron un proceso de comunicación y coordinación con el fin identificar iniciativas conjuntas que permitan apoyar al sector vitivinícola y a la gestión integral del agua en las zonas periurbanas de Tarija. Para este fin se realizaron reuniones informativas, visitas a diferentes bodegas y entrevistas con técnicos y especialistas.
Finalmente, y con el propósito de compartir ideas y expectativas para la generación de un posible acuerdo de cooperación, se acordó realizar un taller con la participación de representantes de las empresas dedicadas a la producción de vinos y singanis en el departamento de Tarija que son parte de ANIV.
