Editorial
L’une des nouvelles approches de la gestion de l’eau et de l’assainissement est l’Assainissement
Ecologique appelé ECOSAN. C’est une approche qui considère les déchets humains et les eaux
usées rejetés par les ménages comme une ressource réutilisable et non pas comme des déchets.
Elle occupe une place de choix dans les interventions et le savoir faire du CREPA suite à
l’expérience enrichissante que l’institution a accumulé en la matière ces dernières années.
En effet, au niveau des ménages aussi bien que des écoles, la dignité humaine, la qualité de
vie et la protection de l’environnement sont placées au centre de ECOSAN, ce qui rend plus
vivant le dynamisme des programmes du Réseau CREPA. Tous les acteurs étant pris en
compte dans le processus de décision et de gestion des projets ECOSAN, ce sont des résultats
révélateurs qui ont été atteints à l’issue des phases de recherche, d’expérimentation et de
pré dissémination du programme ECOSAN au sein du réseau CREPA. A présent, il s’agit d’élever
les ambitions à un niveau optimal au bénéfice d’un très grand nombre des populations des
pays membres du CREPA. Ainsi apparaît la question de passage à l’échelle qui fait l’objet de
débats constructifs entre différents acteurs ou spécialistes. La vision du CREPA s’illustre en
court, moyen et long terme avec un souci d’adoption d’une organisation adéquate, un cadre
institutionnel et juridique approprié pour la mise en oeuvre des projets ECOSAN.
