Content - Summary

Las recomendaciones para el uso agrícola de la excreta se fundamentan en el conocimiento del contenido de nutrientes en la excreta, las cantidades excretadas, la composición y disponibilidad de fertilizante para las plantas y el tratamiento de la excreta, que influencia sus propiedades. Se
presentan en el texto relaciones y datos que pueden constituir una base para adaptar los lineamientos a las condiciones locales. La orina y las heces son fertilizantes completos de alta calidad con bajo contenido de contaminantes, como metales pesados. La orina es rica en nitrógeno, mientras que las heces son ricas en fósforo, potasio y materia orgánica. La cantidad de los nutrientes excretados depende de las cantidades existentes en los alimentos consumidos, se presentan ecuaciones para el cálculo del nitrógeno y fósforo en la excreta basadas en estadísticas fácilmente asequibles del suministro de proteínas en los alimentos.
