Nature Journal features a SuSanA partner and two members
In the Nature international weekly journal of science, June 2012, the article "Ecodesign: The bottom line“, featured the SuSanA partner, Wherever the Need (WTN) and two SuSanA members namely Peter Morgan and Ralf Otterpohl. The article highlights sustainable sanitation and explores various solutions to the sanitation crisis.

The SuSanA partner WTN and their country director of India, Shunmuga Paramasivan, were featured in the article on "Creating social inclusivity for girls and women". It discusses designing urine-diversion dry (composting) toilets with safety and ease of use for girls and women in mind. These toilets are mainly installed in schools and have increased enrolment of girls including those in puberty who are already menstruating.

Two SuSanA members were featured, Peter Morgan with "Inspired by ant turrets and the flight paths of flies", which discusses adapting natural principles to improve toilets. The turrents of ant nests inspired Peter to install vent pipes in improved composting toilets, which reduced odour and flies. Ralf Otterpohl featured with "Boosting compost with biochar and bacteria". The pre-columbian Indians of the Brazilian Amazonian forests created soils known in Portuguese as terra preta, composed of biochar (charcoal), composted excreta and bio-waste. Ralf discusses the basic terra petra processes and how they could be used at communal composting sites even in big cities to turn  treated wastes into terra preta.
