Dr. Kathleen O’Reilly is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Geography, Texas A&M University, beginning immediately. This 12-month position is available starting February 2012 as a one year term with the possibility of a second year term. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded study will identify the social and environmental factors influencing toilet usage habits of families in rural West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.
Duties include assisting with a range of research activities, including data collection in India and data analysis and writing of scholarly products in College Station, TX. The position requires a completed PhD in geography or a related field. The ideal applicant will have field experience, training in quantitative and/or qualitative methods, and expertise in political ecology, gender theory, and/or South Asian studies. Language proficiency in English, Hindi, and/or Bengali is desired. Salary is $40,000 annually, including benefits.
