RSS-feeds

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication. It is a way of distributing information, such as press releases, in a form computers can process. RSS enables users to subscribe to updates, including multi-media files, from a certain website. It feeds content directly onto the subscriber's computer or onto a website and is a convenient and automatic way of allowing subscribers to receive all the latest updates.

To subscribe to an RSS feed, you will need a feed reader. Some readers can be downloaded free on the internet. They can be configurated to meet the user's specifications. Users can decide themselves what websites are to be scanned and they can choose to see either the headline or the first few lines of an article along with a link to the full article, which can then be accessed via their internet browser.

How do I register for an RSS feed?

Once you have opened the RSS file in your internet browser, simply copy the internet address (URL) of the RSS service you want to subscribe to and add it as a new RSS service to your RSS feed reader. Alternatively, you can right-click on the link to the RSS service, copy the URL and add it to your RSS reader.
