20 years with wastewater treatment wetlands in Sweden!

The 20 year celebration takes place May 22-24 2013, in the form of a conference in Nynäshamn with speakers from Sweden, The Netherlands and Ireland, and a half day international scientific workshop as a side event. The program covers experiences from two decades of operating treatment wetlands after municipal wastewater treatment plants, the role of wetlands in holistic water management in Ireland, wetlands for biomass production in Trelleborg, and field visits to two of the oldest wetlands in Sweden – the wetlands in Nynäshamn and in Oxelösund. The conference program is designed to suit both technical staff and researchers interested in treatment wetlands

The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange the latest developments in sludge management. It will give possibilities to examine and discuss the different challenges connected to resource recovery through treatment and disposal of wastewater sludge.

Following the successful 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Water Economics, Statistics, and Finance, the International Water Association (IWA) Specialist Group of Statistics and Economics in coordination with the Water Economics Group of the University of Valencia organize the 3rd International Conference on Water Economics, Statistics, and Finance.

12th meeting of the UK Sanitation Community of Practice (SanCoP)

SanCoP 12 will ask how better planning and risk assessment can help the sanitation sector minimise sanitation system failures and their associated impacts on environmental health. Recent action research has sought to promote the idea of risk-based planning for sanitation systems, for example through sanitation safety plans.

On 10-12 April 2013 Eawag-Sandec is organising a 3-day course on planning and design of sanitation systems and technologies. The course is part of the practice-oriented Eawag course (PEAK) program and will take place in Dübendorf, Switzerland.

IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre in partnership with The Ministry of Water and Energy of the Government of Ethiopia and Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA) are organising a global symposium on monitoring sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene [WASH] service delivery. The symposium will take place over three days from Tuesday, 9 April to Thursday, 11 April 2013 inclusive and will also be hosted at Hilton Addis Ababa Hotel in Ethiopia.
