NASS-Tage, Neuartige Sanitärsysteme, Weimar/Germany, 3-4 March 2010

Since decades conventional wastewater treatment systems guarantee hygiene and environmental protection in Germany. However it was found that these systems are not easily adaptable to changing needs in relationship with effective climate and resource protection. A change of paradigm from end-of-pipe solutions to resource-oriented wastewater systems is required.

This change of paradigm is being discussed by scientists and engineers in the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) committee of experts called “novel sanitation systems (NASS)”.

The focus of this conference was the application of novel sanitation systems in Europe, and discussing their applications worldwide.

Die konventionellen Systeme der Abwasserbehandlung sind seit Jahrzehnten ein Garant für eine erfolgreiche Hygienevorsorge und saubere Umwelt in Deutschland. Jedoch hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren gezeigt, dass diese Systeme nur unflexibel auf die Anforderungen in Bezug auf Klima- und Ressourcenschutz reagieren können. Ein Paradigmenwechsel in der Siedlungswasserwirtschaft hin zu ressourcen-orientierten Systemen ist unausweichlich.

Diesem Paradigmenwechsel stellen sich seit einigen Jahren hochrangige Wissenschaftler und Ingenieure im Rahmen des DWA Fachausschusses KA 1 „Neuartige Sanitärsysteme“ und dessen 7 Arbeitsgruppen.

In den vergangenen 4 Jahren wurde ein Themenband erarbeitet, in dem wichtige Erkenntnisse und Ergebnisse aus Wissenschaft und Praxis zusammengefasst sind. Auf der Tagung DWA NASS „Neu-artige Sanitärsysteme“ in Weimar wird der Themenband einem breiten Fachpublikum vorgestellt.

Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, die Überlegungen und Erfahrungen zu neuartigen Sanitärsystemen systematisch darzustellen, Hilfestellungen für die Bewertung und Auswahl von Systemen und deren Integration in bestehende Systeme zu geben und Forschungs- und Entwicklungsbedarf aufzuzeigen. Der Fokus liegt auf der Anwendung der Systeme in Europa, legt aber zudem die Grundlagen für eine Übertragung auf andere Teile der Welt.
