Komposttoiletten und Trockentoiletten sind mittlerweile weit verbreitete Systeme in Gartenanlagen, Ferienhütten, Freizeiteinrichtungen und auf Hausbooten. Nach der 2008 erschienenen, eher fachlich ausgerichteten Publikation „Komposttoiletten – Sanitärsysteme ohne Wasser“, wendet sich der Autor Wolfgang Berger mit dem neuen Buch „Komposttoiletten für Garten und Freizeit“ stärker an interessierte Kleingärtner und all diejenigen, die fernab von einer Wasserver- und - entsorgung eine Toilettenlösung suchen.

Neben den theoretischen und praktischen Grundlagen zur Fäkalienkompostierung, erhält der Leser ausführliche Informationen über die verschiedenen Verfahren zur Sammlung und Behandlung von menschlichen Ausscheidungen und wie diese Verfahren technisch auch für Selbstbauer umgesetzt werden können. Begleitet werden die Beschreibungen mit vielen Abbildungen und Hinweisen aus der Praxis, die für den Käufer eines Toilettensystems wie für den Selbstbauer hilfreich sind. Auch werden bestehende Beispiele aus dem Freizeitbereich aufgezeigt, wie eine biologische Trockentoilette z. B. in einem Baumhotel oder im Wohnmobil aussehen kann. Damit es auch mit der Behörde klappt, geht der Autor gesondert auf die rechtlichen Bedingungen für den Betrieb einer Komposttoilette ein und gibt wichtige Hinweise zur Hygiene und zur Anwendung von Urin und Kompost im Garten. Wer selbst experimentieren will, erhält in dem Buch auch eine Anleitung für eine einfache Trockentoilette zum Selbstbau.

There is also a previous book which was published in 2008 but which is now out of print. The new book complements the previous book by pointing out more strongly the practical applications and implementations and by reducing the scientific basics to the minimum that is required to understand the content.
